WEETBIX KIDS TRYATHLON - SUNDAY 26 MARCH 2017

This year saw another great Primary turnout for the Weetbix TRYathlon at Manly yesterday. Twenty young athletes swam, biked and ran their way around a gruelling course, cheered on by parents and by top sporting stars, such as Eliza McCartney. A huge congratulations to all our children  - you were fabulous and earned those medals!

BASKETBALL - COMETS - 27 MARCH 2017

The Comets were unfortunately outplayed by their opposition this week. Our defence was tenacious, however the other team was too often able to make penetrating passes that took them up court to score. Austin shot another of his famous high and long balls to score in the first half, and Joshua showed his strength in holding possession of the ball and driving up the court. Rory did a great job under the basket in winning numerous rebounds and then getting out. Alex and Ben both never stopped running and going after the ball which was great to see.
Corbus Luke was Player of the Day (again!) due to his determination and never ending chasing of the ball carrier.

MINIBALL - ASTEROIDS - 27 MARCH 2017

Exciting!  Dynamic!  Teamwork!  Slick passing!  Dogged Defence!
These words barely describe the thrill-a-minute game that was played by the Asteroids on Tuesday evening.  All spectators would agree that it was 'edge of your seat' stuff and our hearts were in our mouths during the entire match!  This team continues to demonstrate flawless and unselfish teamwork.  They play together as one harmonious group and each week we are witnessing this group grow in skills, game awareness and team cohesion.  Some of the passing on Tuesday was the best I have ever seen, with each member of the team touching the ball to help set up a wonderful basket by our Player of the Day, Rosa Clark. Congratulations, Rosa, for committing yourself fully on defence and for being available to receive the ball and shoot some spectacular goals!  Your effort was superb.  Keep it up Asteroids - you are all an excitement machine!

MINIBALL - ROCKETS - 27 MARCH 2017

Wow, Rockets, what a week! It was an absolute pleasure to be shouting myself hoarse at your match this week.  It was brilliant to see Amy and Brooke working as a team; their great passes helped to set up a lot of goals.  It was a bit rough at times, with Xavier being on the receiving end of an extreme two person defence from Stanmore Bay -  resulting in a lost tooth! The Rockets didn’t let that stand in the way of their brilliant play and Xavier pulled through and got straight back on the court to score an amazing goal, leading Wentworth to a 6-2 win. Because of the teamwork and effort put in by the whole team, the Player of the Day was shared between all the players. Well done!

BASKETBALL - COMETS - 20 MARCH 2017

The Comets played hard this week but the scoreboard didn't reflect this at full time.  Some stand out individual breaks just couldn't be converted into points.  Defensive pressure continues to be a strength of this exciting team and we look forward to watching this develop over the coming weeks.  Player of the Day went to Corbus Luke. Good for you, Corbus!
Training for this team is held in the school gym on Sunday mornings at 9am.

MINIBALL - ASTEROIDS - 20 MARCH 2017

A good attacking effort was not enough to secure a win for our Asteroids team this week.  Accurate passing and good positioning on court is a trademark of this team.  Over the coming weeks, Wednesday training sessions will focus on dribbling whilst running with the ball, as well as shooting.  We will also look at our full team defensive play.  Speaking of defence, our Player of the Day trophy went to Rosie Roberts for her excellent hustle on defence Well done Rosie for chasing your opposition and spoiling their flow on attack.  Keep it up!

MINIBALL - ROCKETS - 20 MARCH 2017

The Rockets made a big effort this week however missed out on the win.  Our shooting has improved, and players are working well as a team, looking for the gaps, and passing to one another a lot more.  Player of the Day this week went to Brooke Oliver for never giving up. Brooke raced up and down the court and made sure to get to wherever she was needed. Well done, Brooke!
